The first half concentrated on Nancy’s debut album Sweet Visitor and in the second half we were treated to some new material from her forthcoming album.
Billed as a regional debut by drummer/guitarist Tom Wright, Crow’s Wing, the not so uplifting tale of a dead bird, was a highlight.

Hide AdThe friendly and open musicians created a bond with the audience. I certainly felt as if I was a part of the show and this made the night more special. Nancy also told of how she saved a family of bees in Fareham earlier in the day.
My favourite song of the night was the last of the regular set: Never Ever Lay Them Down. It’s a rousing, lively tune about love in the industrial city of Sheffield where Nancy lives. It features twin violins and is a storming way to finish a gig.
Although this was only the second night of the tour the band are already playing extremely well.
On this showing the new album can’t hit the shops soon enough.
