The most memorable FA Cup wins in Hawks’ history (if you ignore the 2007/08 season, that is!)
There were only 260 fans present at Westleigh Park 22 years ago when the newly-formed Havant & Waterlooville took part in their first FA Cup tie.
Drawn against the west Sussex side, a lone goal from Dave Wakefield gave Billy Gilbert’s side victory.

In only Hawks’ 10th ever season, they knocked out EFL pair Notts County and Swansea City en route to a memorable fourth round trip to Liverpool.
There, they incredibly twice led before losing 5-2.
This coming Sunday Hawks return to Liverpool bidding to reach the third round for the first time since that extraordinary 2007/08 run.
Paul Doswell’s men face Marine, who play in the Northern Premier League North West division - two tiers below the Hawks in the non-league pyramid.

We have purposely ignored the 2007/08 run, for that will be covered in the coming days.
None of the victories featured here will be as fondly recalled as the third round slaying of Swansea in front of a packed Westleigh Park crowd in January 2008 – or the wins at York and Notts County in the same season - but they all have their place in Hawks’ folklore.

Miles Rutherford - the man who guided Chichester City to the second round of the FA Cup last season - was in the Hawks team that lined up for the club’s historic first-ever tie in the tournament.
